The wedding must go on. Marissa & Matthias were married in upstate New York the day of Hurricane Irene. Nothing would dissuade this couple from keeping their date, and even though half the guests weren’t able to make it, all of the vendors did. They had their officiant, the band, flowers, cake, their photographer, and The Inn at Stone Ridge had enough generators to serve hot food and keep a couple of lamps going – although most of the evening was lit by candlelight. Luckily, by the time the wedding began, the rain had stopped and the wind only came in gusts. There is a lot I could say about this wedding – everyone who came had their own travel story. Mine was that it took me an hour to figure out how to get out of my town – everywhere I turned I faced a road with downed trees, power lines, or flooded roads. But, it was a lovely, intimate affair.
