Mallory & Peter lucked out on their wedding day in November. The day was unseasonably warm, there were plenty of golden leaves on the trees, and they timed it so we had as much daylight as possible, despite the time-change. Theirs was a truly joyful wedding: High school sweethearts, they have been together for over 10 years. They are best friends and are maybe the most relaxed couple I have ever photographed on their wedding day. The ceremony was at this tiny chapel on the Hudson River, reception was at The Highlands, and videography was by 15 Minutes of Frame.

And, I don’t usually post people’s comments, but their email from Thailand continues to radiate their total happiness. Mallory & Peter just make me happy:
“Greetings from Thailand!!
Thank you so so very much for doing such an amazing job at our wedding — it truly was the most perfect night of our lives, and we are glad you were able to be a part of it! You are so friendly, kind, relaxing, and a pleasure to be around! And most importantly, we LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures!!! We happened to stop off at a small internet cafe in Chiang Mai to check our emails, and saw the pictures, and after I saw them, I literally could not stop smiling.”

Jen & Tom were married at The Garrison in New York’s Hudson Valley on a gorgeous late-summer day in September. The Garrison is one of my favorite locations: The designs of the rooms and grounds are such that the Hudson River and rolling hills are always in view, whether inside or out. And event manager Todd Smith and his staff make sure everything flows as smoothly as can be.

Sarah & Jon were married at the Blooming Hill Farm in the Hudson Valley a week after Hurricane Irene. Deb Dichter of Fresh Company catered, and I’m always happy to work with her and her incredible team. There were quite a few children at this wedding and Deb made sure a selection of the appetizers would be to their taste. Adults were served a farm fresh feast.

Sometimes the wedding has to go on. Marissa & Matthias were married in upstate New York the day of Hurricane Irene. Nothing would dissuade this couple from keeping their date, and even though half the guests weren’t able to make it, all of the vendors did. They had their officiant, the band, flowers, cake, their photographer, and The Inn at Stone Ridge had enough generators to serve hot food and keep a couple of lamps going – although most of the evening was lit by candlelight. Luckily, by the time the wedding began, the rain had stopped and the wind only came in gusts. There is a lot I could say about this wedding – everyone who came had their own travel story. Mine was that it took me an hour to figure out how to get out of my town – everywhere I turned I faced a road with downed trees, power lines, or flooded roads. But, it was a lovely, intimate affair.
